University of Kentucky Themed Caricature Commission

A lady commissioned me to do a caricature of her husband and place them in the team caricature of the 2012 University of Kentucky NCAA Basketball National Championship Team.  He used to play High School and College ball himself, but not for UK,  he was always number 9.  If you'd like to place yourself in one just contact me or go to my ETSY store at www.etsy.com/shop/caricaturecorral

Rat Rod HAND Lettering & HAND Pinstriping!!!

Here is one another fun project this summer.  A 1954 Chevy Pickup Rat Rod.
If you don't know what a Rat Rod is (but if you are reading this post you probably do), it is a vintage vehicle not totally blinged out or finished to showroom detail.  It has flaws, usually lots of them, non perfect paint and dings.  Some guys even leave them rusty!!!  Then they have a talented Sign Painter to hand letter and pinstripe them.  This was what I got to do for this Rod.
I started my signmaking career years ago on this type of work when EVERY sign you made had to be HAND done.  This was one reason I got into the sign business.  I LOVE to hand letter!!!  So, I had a blast on this one!!!  Oh, and I got PAID for it too!!!
I Praise God my Creator for Blessing me to be able to earn a living doing the thing I love to do.
Click on the photos to enlarge.

A close up of the hand lettering and pinstriping toward the front.  I have no idea who "Moon" is.  That is just what the customer asked for it to say.

Close up of the hood & fender.

The back and the tailgate where I painted in the embossed CHEVROLET lettering.

School Library Mural Close-Ups

I chose to use the Disney style Winnie the Pooh art because it is closer to my own style and I think most kids identify with these characters better.  You can see my version of Mother Goose in the lower left corner.

Harry Potter flying by on his broom!

Wilbur & Charlotte

The world famous "Cat in the Hat".

Curious George

One of my favorite children's books, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie".

Clifford the Big Red Dog

My cartoon version of "Shiloh".

School Library Mural

This summer I was blessed to do a large hand painted mural for a local elementary school library.  The principal wanted a very colorful kid-friendly mural of the most popular storybook characters for this reading nook.  This project took about 2 1/2 weeks from concepts to completion.  This is all my original art versions of the characters with children cartoons added reading books.

Here is wall number two and a small wall.

KOBE BRYANT COMIC ART

So far its been quite a BUSY summer and I haven't had time to post anything since the UK caricature posters (which I still have some available, by the way!), so I'm going to try to post a project each week that I worked on this summer.
Here is the first one:  A basketball art poster for a birthday present.  This guy was a big Kobe Bryant fan so his family commissioned me to do an art poster for his birthday

Custom Sign Commission

The signcrafting portion of my business has been very SLOW to say the least the past few months due to the lagging economy.  There are more businesses going OUT of business that into business.
This was not a new business.  This tax service has been around for several years.  They just bought a new building and needed a new sign.  I designed this logo for them when they first went into business and just carried it through for the new sign.
I just installed it this morning....in 32 degree weather....and it was snow showering....brrrrrr!

Derrick Rose Caricature

Basketball season is in full swing and though I am a bigger College Hoops fan (GO BIG BLUE!!!) than NBA, I do like Derrick Rose and the Bulls.  Derrick is an simply AMAZING point guard.  Here is his caricature.

Illustration Commission

This was a fun commission I did.  The illustration is of my Pastor's wife and her older sister, as children. (see photos below).  When they were growing up they shared a bedroom and everything was on the older sis' side and she also divided the room in half.  If you notice she's reading a book entitled "Everyday Manners by Emily Post".  She said her older sister would read that to her all the time.  Her sister told her this was the best gift she'd received this Christmas.
This is the photo she gave me to work from.

Christmas Commissions

Here is the first of some Christmas gift commissions.  As you can see, this lady is a fan of
The Wizard of OZ.
